Rewrap turns video into MP4 or M4V files for your Mac, Apple TV, iPhone and iPad. Everything it needs, FFmpeg included, is inside the app.
Before you start
You’ll need a Mac with Apple silicon running macOS 14 or later. Rewrap doesn’t run on Intel Macs.
Convert your first video
Move Rewrap to Applications
Open the disk image and drag Rewrap into your Applications folder. It’s signed and notarized, so it opens without a warning.
Drop in a video
Drag one or more files onto the Rewrap window, or use Open. Rewrap reads each file and lists its video, audio and subtitle tracks.
Check the tracks
Every track is on by default. Turn off the ones you don’t want, such as extra languages, and fix a track’s language if it’s wrong. Use the filters to show only video, audio or subtitle tracks.
Pick a preset
Passthru Remux copies everything that fits into MP4 without re-encoding, which is fastest and loses nothing. Apple TV 4K, iPhone, iPad and Archive H.265 convert the video too.
Convert
Start the conversion and open the jobs drawer to follow progress and time remaining. When a job is done, Reveal in Finder shows the new file.
Tip: choose where finished files go in Preferences, including an external drive.
What stays the same
Chapters, metadata and cover art are always copied into the new file. Your original file isn’t changed.
If a conversion fails
Each job keeps a log. Choose Reveal Logs in Finder from the menu and attach the job’s log to a support ticket.
