The xenodeploy command line

Plan, deploy and roll back from Terminal, run unattended deploys, and use --json and --dry-run.

5-minute read Applies to XenoDeploy 1.0.0 Updated

The xenodeploy command ships inside the app and runs the same code: every button in the app is one of its commands. Put it on your PATH with XenoDeploy › Install Command Line Tool….

Everyday commands

Terminal
$ xenodeploy list # projects, environments and their last deploy
$ xenodeploy plan staging # build, stage and read the server; changes nothing
$ xenodeploy deploy staging
$ xenodeploy releases staging
$ xenodeploy rollback staging --to previous
$ xenodeploy doctor staging # what the environment needs, with fixes

Run them in the project's folder, or name the project with --project <name>.

Unattended deploys

With --non-interactive, a deploy never stops to ask. Every question has a flag, and a missing answer exits 8 naming it before anything changes:

Terminal
$ xenodeploy deploy production --non-interactive --confirm production --on-health-failure rollback

For scripts and AI agents

  • --json prints JSON Lines: one record per line, errors included.
  • --dry-run, on every command that changes something, shows the plan without applying it.
  • Exit codes are fixed: 0 done, 7 refused with nothing changed, 9 failed with the site as it was, 10 failed after the site changed, 11 not covered by the license.

Updates and the license

xenodeploy update updates the app, and the command with it, without opening the app. xenodeploy license status shows the trial or the license; deploying and adopting need one after the 14-day trial, and nothing else ever does.
